When a Stack Has Stopped Earning Its Place on the Roof
If you no longer burn fuel and the stack above your roof is cracked, leaning or letting in water, taking it down can make more sense than paying to repair it again. We remove the brickwork course by course, either to just above the roof line so it can be capped, or to below roof level so the roof covering runs straight over where it stood.
Removing the stack below the roof leaves a clean, unbroken slope with nothing left to maintain. Stopping just above the roof line is quicker and keeps the job smaller. Either way the flue below is capped and ventilated, so the old chimney breast inside stays dry and does not sweat.
This service covers the stack above the roof only. Taking a chimney breast out inside the house is a separate structural job that we do not include here. On terraces where one stack serves two houses, your neighbours need to agree before anything comes down, and we can explain to them what we plan to do.

What Affects Your Chimney Removal Quote?
No two roofs in Dublin are quite the same, so we price after seeing yours. Below are the four factors that move the figure on your written quote most for this job.
Height & Size of the Stack
A tall stack with several pots involves more brickwork to take down and more rubble to clear than a short single-flue stack.
Above or Below the Roof Line
Taking the stack below roof level means rebuilding that part of the roof, which adds timber, underlay and roofing materials to the job.
Matching the Roof Covering
Natural slate on an older terrace can take longer to source and match than a standard concrete tile on a newer house.
Access & Site Clearance
Narrow lanes, rear-only access or a stack above a conservatory affect how scaffolding goes up and how rubble is brought down and taken away.
